About Me

Hi! I’m a former teacher, but I left the classroom in order to stay at home with my children when they were young. I now provide private tutoring in the area of literacy development.

I have degrees in both Child and Youth Study and Elementary Education from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I also have the Alberta Child Development Supervisor Certification (Level 3). I have experience teaching at the K-6 levels and as a tutor for a Learning Disability Association.

I have three boys at home – aged 14, 12, and 10 – along with my husband, a dog, and a few cats. I love to read, watch movies, and play board games. My favourite things include every animal imaginable, the ocean, fine art museums, and bookstores.

I have a passion for education in general, but my biggest interest has always been in literacy! As a literacy tutor, I am continually reading and taking professional development courses in order to learn all I can about the most effective ways to help children succeed.

Please contact me if you’re interested in Literacy Tutoring for your child.

I’m located in Airdrie, Alberta.

Continued Education…

My personal education in providing the best literacy instruction never ends! Not only is literacy my job, it truly is a passion. I am continually reading books about the best literacy practices, I am an active part of online literacy communities, and I attend many professional development courses each year. As I learn more, my practice adapts to provide the most benefit to students. I take my role as a tutor very seriously and want to provide your child with the best evidence-based instruction possible.

My dog – just because she’s cute! 😉
